London Hotels Near Waterloo Station

Looking for hotels in London near Waterloo?

I thought I would continue with my series of posts on hotels located close to train stations the first of which was hotels close to London Victoria Station.

Staying close to London Waterloo station is a good idea as you are very close to major London attractions such as the London Eye, The Aquarium, Southbank and a short walk across the bridge to Embankment, Trafalgar Square and The Strand.

The majority of hotels are on the North Bank of the Thames, there are not that many that are within a couple of hundred metres, so it is likely that if you are arriving into London Waterloo you will have to take a taxi or the tube to your hotel.

Luxury London hotels near Waterloo Station

The Sofitel St. James London hotel is located at The Trafalgar Square end of Pall Mall. It is an extremely highly rated 5 star hotel on TripAdvisor. in fact it is so good that it is rated in the Top 10 of over 1000 London hotels. For more info click here.

The Royal Horseguards Hotel is located close to Embankment station. It is also very close to the Houses of Parliament and Trafalgar Square. As one of a few Guoman hotels in London it offers luxury in historical surroundings. he reviews for the Royal Horse guards on TripAdvisor are also very encouraging. Marriott London County Hall hotel is the closest luxury hotel to London Waterloo station. It is located close to the London Aquarium and the London Eye on the Southbank, so also benefits from being extremely close to Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. Further details can be found here.

Closer to Leicester Square tube station you can find the Stylish St Martins Lane Hotel and in Leicester Square itself The Radisson Edwardian Hampshire. The latter is great for a central hotel but be aware of the noise that comes with being right in the Tourist centre of London. Cheap London hotels near Waterloo Station

The Covent Garden Hotel is rated as the 4th best reviewed hotel in London on TripAdvisor, which is great for such a central 3 * hotel. The hotel is located halfway between Covent Garden and Tottenham Court Road. More details about this and other Firmdale hotels in London here.

Closer to London Waterloo, the 4 * Mercure London City Bankside, is located deep in Southwark with a location that is ideal to enjoy the Southbank and in particular the Tate Modern. Further details here.

The Grand at Trafalgar Square hotel is a 3-4* hotel located near Embankment. This is a good option for those looking to stay central and reviews on TripAdvisor are favourable. Price and availability info can be found here.

Budget hotels near Waterloo Station

Due to it’s central location, there are very few 1 and 2 star hotels within the vicinity of Waterloo station that have received favourable reviews on TripAdvisor.

The closest recommended hotels are the Carlton Hotel in Holborn, although reviews for this are hit and miss. The alternative is the Luna & Simone Hotel that is also close to London Victoria station.
