Google City Tours: London
A reader of mine pointed out that Google City Tours has a suggested itinerary for walking in London:
http://citytours.googlelabs.com/search?q=London,%20England
I am not too familiar with this Google product but it appears still to be in beta/labs development.
There appears to be only 1 London Google City Tour at the moment, but hopefully this number will increase as people utilise the import my map feature.
Matt Cutt’s (Google web expert) Google City Tour review is quite interesting and can be found on YouTube here.
Google City Tours Vs. Guided Walks
I am not sure if these will pose a threat to the many Guided walks in London, such as the photography tour I reviewed here. To be honest, if I was a visitor to London I would prefer to pay a little to benefit from the knowledge and expertise of a guide, otherwise you end up walking around but with no real idea of whether what you are looking at could be significant (bit like the 2 times I have walked around the Vatican in Rome!).
However, I do think these Google City tour guides could be good for people who are looking for new ways to discover the city they live in. Perhaps readers could log their London walks and send us the link here?
Enjoy the walk!
