Getting to London By Bus or Coach
National Express Buses to London
The National Express Network is the largest and best known coach service in the UK and makes a good alternative to taking trains to get to the Capital from selected cities within the UK.
Fares can often be a lot cheaper than the same journey taken by train. As per usual to find the cheapest fares it is best to book well in advance and be flexible with your travel times. Discounts are available for students and seniors and special fares can be found if people book e-tickets or mobile tickets.
The main hub for coach travel from London is the Coach station at Victoria (approximately 5 minutes from the tube station).
Journey times to selected cities vary – so compare price, length of journey and frequency to train alternatives at The Trainline or RailEasy before booking.
Brighton to London – 2hrs
Birmingham to London – 2 1/2 – 3hrs
Stratford Upon Avon to London – 3hrs+
York to London – 5-6hrs
The National Express Network covers 120 towns and cities, for more information about fare prices and journey times click here.

An alternative to National Express is the MegaBus coach service, which often has been known to advertise fares from as little as £1 for travel between major cities in the UK.
Tickets can be purchased online and mobile tickets make travel as easy as showing the text on your phone to the bus driver.
